However, we only say that because it affected our movies of the game, so when you're watching them know that the game is Pre-Alpha and is so rough that it was hard to capture the excitement of Battle Tanx with such an early edition. Also, the effects are hardly implemented at all, and right now the game looks a little weak because of that. The current burn (which is very, very early - I cannot state that enough) is slow in control and hard to navigate, making it play much different from its N64 counterpart. However, the game should still be fast and fun once it is finished, so this should still be a heavy competitor for Twisted Metal and the rest of the vehicle combat games (I mean, criminy - they're tanks!).ģDO still has their work cut out for themselves with this conversion. The game features only a two-player mode, and it will probably stay that way (unlike the N64 version).

Of course, the Guided Missile (which switches to a first-person in-missile cam so you can control the rocket in flight) and Nuke (which adds a radiation effect to the entire level once detonated) are in and playable. Destructible buildings and objects are just as prevalent in the PlayStation rev, and the train in Berlin is already present. However, the game already includes all the tanks, all the gangs, all the weapons, and all of the levels of the N64 game. We still don't know much about what will be changed between the PlayStation adaptation and the N64 original (our early preview promised new weapons and goodies, but the current Pre-Alpha burn hung up as we got deeper and deeper into the options, so we didn't find much). The game is not and does not look like a simple port of the N64 version - much of the engine has been rewritten, and that is very clear in the crisp textures. The PlayStation edition of BT: GA is already running with a crisp resolution that is much improved over the N64 blur, although the graphics will absolutely be getting much more (and much needed) work before the game is complete.

Already shown on the Game Boy, 3DO finally presented us recently with a very early burn of the PlayStation version of the second game in the Battle Tanx series - Battle Tanx: Global Assault.
